Σεισμός μεγέθους 5,5 βαθμών έπληξε σήμερα το κέντρο του Μπανγκλαντές, ανακοίνωσε το αμερικανικό Ινστιτούτο Γεωλογικών Σπουδών (USGS), ενώ οι τοπικές Αρχές δεν έχουν ανακοινώσει μέχρι στιγμής ενδεχόμενες ζημιές ή θύματα.

Η δόνηση σημειώθηκε στις 10:38 (τοπική ώρα, 06:38 ώρα Ελλάδας) κοντά στην πόλη Ναρσινγκντί, σε απόσταση περίπου 30 χιλιομέτρων βορειοανατολικά της πρωτεύουσας Ντάκα, ανακοίνωσε το USGS, σύμφωνα με το οποίο υπάρχει πιθανότητα «ο αριθμός των θυμάτων να είναι σημαντικός».

Οι μετεωρολογικές υπηρεσίες του Μπανγκλαντές έκαναν λόγο από την πλευρά τους για ένα σεισμό μεγέθους 5,7 βαθμών, το επίκεντρο του οποίου εντόπισαν στην πόλη Μαμπχαμπντί, στην περιφέρεια του Ναρσινγκντί, προσθέτοντας ότι η δόνηση έγινε αισθητή για 26 δευτερόλεπτα.
